English 101 1st Blog Post

English 101 Blog Post

Feross Aboukhadiejeh’s narrative, “How I Learned to Program Computers,” and Joshua J. Romero’s account of, “How I Learned to Live Google-Free,” are both informative and detailed articles that reveal not only two unique writing styles but give excellent examples of how to approach my future Educational Narrative assignment. Feross explains how he learned computer programming in chronological order, beginning with early attempts at web design as a child, to his eventual mastery of the subject. Feross utilizes his casual writing style to attract and connect with his readers, which is a detail to keep in mind while writing my own essay. Romero’s article was strikingly different in its organization, as his educational experience happened over a brief period of time. Instead of simplifying or summarizing what he learned or did, Romero’s article jumps into a deep analysis of his experiences as he tries to cut out every aspect of Google in his life. I believe Romero intentionally made his article informative so that it could be an educational experience for the reader. After reading both articles, I found that there were helpful elements in each of them. While I found Romero’s detailed and informative narrative quite interesting, I hope to mimic Feross’s honest and encouraging writing in my own essay.
